Yan Isabel Zhu, MD, PhD

Yan Isabel Zhu grew up in Beijing, China. After completing four years of undergraduate study at Tsinghua University, she was awarded a full scholarship to pursue graduate studies in nutrition at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. While conducting human clinical trials at Cornell toward her PhD, she rekindled her childhood interest in becoming a physician. In 2001 she received her MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. After completing one year of internship in New York City, she was attracted to the West where she completed her dermatology residency at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver. Dr. Zhu has been a co-investigator in multiple clinical trials in the fields of nutrition and dermatology. Her research articles and reviews have appeared in numerous professional publications. Dr. Zhu takes pride in offering a full range of general and surgical dermatology, including adult and pediatric dermatology, benign and malignant cutaneous neoplasms, nail and hair disorders, and cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Restylene, laser, and sclerotherapy.

She and her husband are parents of two boys. Besides spending time with her family, Dr. Zhu enjoys reading, hiking, running, fitness dance, and going to concerts.

Dr. Zhu joined Boulder Dermatology in July 2005.
